In the Dallas ISD 5A District, the familiarity of who's who at the top and bottom of the standings should and will likely remain the same. Minus Dallas Samuell, who has dropped to 4A, the district alignment also remains the same. The Carter Cowboys and Skyline Raiders are expected to be atop the district with WT White and Dallas Adams close behind.

Carter, who finished with an 11-1 record in 2005, will be looking to RB Michael Hicks and WR Jeremy Watts to lead the offensive production. Hicks in 2005 rushed for nearly 1,000 yards and picked up a dozen touchdowns while Watts grabbed 276 yards through the air. Defensively, the Cowboys should be very solid once again with Lloyd Loggins and Issac Madison returning to the squad. Although very young and inexperienced, the Cowboys should gain some valuable confidence early in the season. Carter still has plenty of depth and skill players to not only win another district title, but make anotther solid playoff run.

The Skyline Raiders usually are a team that is right on the horizon of Carter's dominance. This season is no different. With a pair of solid skill players on the offensive side including Martin Gilbert at running back and Christian Scott at wide receiver. Scott is also one of the top defensive back prospects in the state. He will be joined by Sinatra Wallace and Spencer Reeves. If Scott can help the Raiders improve on both sides of the ball, the Raiders just might find a way to change their recent fortunes against the Carter Cowboys.

The final two playoff spots should come between the WT White Longhorns and the Adams Cougars. The Longhorns will be looking to feed off the energy of a new head coach and a pair solid skill players on the offensive side of the ball. RB Ashman Thomas will be taking over as the team's lead rusher while, two-way starter Jarvis Jones will be looking to make an impact with his hands Adams will be turning to 1,400+ yard rusher Rocky Frank to help the Cougars make a big impact in the district race. Noth WT White and Adams should field very competitive teams, but if they intend to make the district race an even more competitive, they will have to make sure they are well prepared and cover any mental distractions out of the picture.
