1-3A: Loboes could move a step closer to D2 top seed
Still Alive On Outside: TBA
As a consolation, the district title could be on the line when Monahans travels to Fort Stockton. For the Monahans Loboes, a win will put them a game away from clinching the top seed for District 1-3A in the Division II set up. Clint, who does not have a tie-breaker against Monahans, is off this week and finishes the season against Fabens and at Fort Stockton.
3-3A/4-3A: District play starts with blockbuster match ups
Still Alive On Outside: TBA
District play starts this week for districts with only four teams. The big highlight match is in 3-3A where Snyder travels to Greenwood for what could likely determine playoff positioning in Division II. The same senario may play out in District 4-3A with the Seminole/Brownfield contest.
5-3A/6-3A: Dalhart puts undefeated mark on the line
Still Alive On Outside: TBA
While district competition begins in 5-3A, a playoff spot in 6-3A is on the line with Vernon traveling to Wichita Falls Hirschi. Dalhart, entering the week at 7-0, will face perhaps their biggest test of the season since prevailing in overtime against Stratford when the Wolves host Perryton.
7-3A/8-3A: Breckenridge looks to pay its toll for a playoff drive
Still Alive On Outside: TBA
Sweetwater has clinched a playoff spot but pride and a district title is on the line as the Mustangs travel to Abilene to face the Wylie Bulldogs. Breckenridge can also clinch a playoff berth this week with a win over Clyde. A year ago, the game between Decatur and Gainesville would been a marquee match up. But the Leopards are now faced with a must-win to keep their playoff hopes alive. |

9-3A/10-3A: The price of losing in Week 8 could be costly
Still Alive On Outside: TBA
Royse City clinches a playoff spot with a win as Quinlan Ford and Emory Rains Faces one another. The winner of the Ford/Rains match gets an extra incentive as they have the upper hand of avoiding a first round collision against the Celina Bobcats. If Whitesboro is going to make the playoffs, their road begins this week against Pilot Point, which will be a must-win.
11-3A/12-3A: Lake Worth, West loking to rebound weeks
Still Alive On Outside: TBA
After back to back drummings by Roosevellt and Madison, the Lake Worth Bulldfrogs have an up hill battle to make the playoffs. The Bullfrogs begin a mountainous climb with Ranchview as the first obstacle. The West Trojans will be looking avoid a 1-2 district mark as they play host to the Kennedale Wildcats.
13-3A/14-3A: Regular season rematches on the horizon?
Still Alive On Outside: TBA
If things keep progressing the way they are in district play we could see a pair of regular season rematches in Week 1. The key matches in 13 and 14 features Brownsboro at Canton and Kemp at Kaufman. Both Kaufman and Crandall can clinch playoff berths with wins as can Athens with a win over Van.
15-3A/16-3A: Pleasant Grove, Mount Vernon face elimination
Still Alive On Outside: TBA
For the Pleasant Grove Hawks and Mount Vernon Vernon Tigers, the playoffs begin this week as the two will battle in what is a playoff elimination game for all intentions. Gladewater and Spring Hill can clean up the 15-3A playoff picture with wins over White Oak and Gladewater Sabine. Mineola still has an outside shot to make the playoffs but the Yellowjackets will need some help as they do not have the tie-breaker against Gladewater. |

17-3A/18-3A: Rockdale faces possible elimination
Still Alive On Outside: TBA
The Robinson Rockets can redeem themselves with a win over China Spring on Friday. While Robinson takes its frustrations out of China Spring, Gatesville and La Vega will battle for the outright district lead. In 18-3A, Rockdale faces elimination from the district playoff picture at home against Taylor and Hutto travels to Liberty Hill for the upper hand on the district title.
19-3A/20-3A: Carthage on the ropes after 6-0 start
Still Alive On Outside: TBA
The Carthage loss to Rusk could be a huge loss if Crockett continues to play the way they have over the vast majority of the season. The tough pre-district scheduling might be enough to prepare Crockett for what could be a huge final three weeks of the season. A Carthage loss to Crockett this season will possibly shake up the brackets in the early rounds to a certain extent. Mexia has a golden opportunity to prove the 2-0 district start is good enough to keep the heat on the rest of the district as they face Westwood at home.
21-3A/22-3A: Kirbyville presents Wild Card in Playoff Chase
Still Alive On Outside: TBA
The Kirbyville Wildcats could hold the keys to the balance of power in all of Class 3A Region III. With a win over Bridge City and/or Silsbee over the next two weeks, the Wildcats prescence could move West Orange-Stark from Division II to Division I. After an 0-2 district start, Tarkington may find themselves right back in the thick of the playoff race providing they win against Coldspring and both Liberty and Shepherd lose this weekend.
23-3A/24-3A: Playoff spot, district title on the line in 24-4A
Still Alive On Outside: TBA
West Columbia can bring itself right back into the playoff picture with a win at Needville this weekend. Needville can clinch a playoff spot with a win over West Columbia and a Stafford loss to Columbus. Wharton and Sweeny would also clinch a playoff berth with wins and a Needville win. Navasota, like West Columbia, can jump back into the playoff picture with a win. The Rattlers have a date with Caldwell in Week 9 and La Grange in Week 10, so the Rattlers control their own destiny the last three weeks of the season. |

25-3A/26-3A: South SA West Campus a regional sleeper?
Still Alive On Outside: TBA
District play gets under way for these two districts this week as the big match up is between Wimberley and Bandera. The Bandera Bulldogs are quite likely the best 2-5 team in the state. South SA West Campus might be the biggest surprise of the season in all of 3A after their 5-2 start. The Cougars, who face Luling at home this week, has gone 2-1 against 4A teams this season.
27-3A/28-3A: District 28-3A race for third could be key to entire region
Still Alive On Outside: TBA
Keep in mind, although some districts have yet to start play, the road map and balance of power of the entire playoff picture for an entire region could be determined by the playoff status of a single team. That particular team is the Crystal City Javelinas in 28-3A. After Week 7 action, the Javelinas sit in third place ahead of Carrizo Springs and Pearsall. Barring some major catastrophic collapses, Devine and Hondo appear to be locks in the Championship Highway. The kicker is that both Pearsall and Carrizo Springs are the two largest schools in the district. If either one of the two can knock Crystal City off the third place doormat, Hondo would be sent to Division II where the prospects loom of meeting Wimberley, Cuero and Rio Hondo. If Crystal City makes the playoffs, Hondo would be sent to Division I where a possible collision with Bandera, La Vernia, and Ingleside comes into play.
29-3A/30-3A: Sinton-Mathis winner could steal away 2nd Place
Still Alive On Outside: TBA
Sinton and Mathis square off this week in what could ultimately and most likely determine the three playoff teams out of 30-3A. Both teams at 1-1, also have a shot at conquering second place in the district standings. Ingleside travels to Orange Grove with the winner grabbing a playoff spot and the possible district championship. The winner of the Palacios/Goliad game will lead the race for third providing Yoakum does not defeat Gonzales.
31-3A/32-3A: Raymondville could be playoff bound this weekend
Still Alive On Outside: TBA
With a win over Falfurrias, the Raymondville BearKats are headed down the playoff highway. A win by San Diego will quite possibly send the 31-3A Playoff race for third into a frenzy. A Progreso upset over La Feria will shake the RGV to oblivion and make the 32-3A third place race a very intruging one in the last two weeks of the season. |
