Devine could very well be the best team in the state that nobody is talking about or have heard from. Like that of a Liberty Hill, Wimberley, Cuero or Sweetwater, there is one way to describe the Warhorses. Loaded and talented. However, the question will be whether they will be able to compete in that upper echelon of teams competing for state championship supremacy.
The answer should be a resounding yes based on the following reasons: The Warhoses have a good sizeable line that is primarily the centerpiece of their success. One of the to quarterbacks and wide receivers in the region reside on the Warhorse offense. But the main drawback the Warhorses will have is finding a replacement for Paul Whitehead, who is now at Sul Ross. Defensively, Zeke Rodriguez and Logan Martinez will be the leaders that will be counted on the stop the opposition.
Top Players in District 29-3A
With the focus on Devine, the forgotten talents may come from teams like the Hondo Owls. The Owls have a multi-running back attack set up with Andy Warren and Myron Garcia. With nearly 1,000 yards and 12 touchdowns combined with the two, defenses will have to keep their eyes open. Both have excellent footwork and eyes to boot. If the duo can increase their production, the Owls will also prove to be a dangerous threat in the playoff picture.
