Lufkin went into The Woodlands and won, so it comes down to Klein Collins and Lufkin to play for the district title ... IN LUFKIN!!! Collins has only one loss(@ The Woodlands) comming into the this game. In Houston ... #1 offense against #3 offense ... In district #1 defense against #2 defense ... wow!! This game should be a great one. Both teams are fighting for something special.

KC a chance to shock the state, district, and none believers in only their 3rd Varsity season ... for bragging rights

Lufkin ... a team that has been in the trenches and pick'd to win. Everything to gain and nothing to lose. A chance to come to a bigger district with total domination!!

Give you thoughts, comments, and predictions

Good luck to both teams .... My prediction KC 35
Lufkin 24 :bottom:

GO TIGERS!!!!

GO TIGERS!!!!

I am surprised that you say KCHS has the #2 defense in the District. Maybe that is indicative of the district. KCHS is lacking on defense. I am a huge Tiger fan and we will need some breaks to win but that was the case with the basketball team last year as well and the made it to the final 4.

The KCHS offense is just plain fun to watch and they are the real thing. I think it will be high scoring and I hope Lufkin has a few more mistakes than us to give us a shot.

Winner gets Waco, loser gets Copperas Cove who beat Waco 21-19.

My prediction KC- 36 LHS - 35 in OT. Panthers have 3 turnovers and three bad calls from the refs that allows the HUGE upset because that would be what it would be. Ron Feldman goes for 2 and they hand in up the middle to #4 for the first time all night and catches the Panthers chasing Goodson.

Good luck to both teams and let's show good sportsmanship as we roll into the playoffs

I AM GOING TO THE GAME!! It will be the first game I have gotten to watch all season, but I have to pull for the Alma Mater. Lufkin 38 KC 17

KCT, you said Lufkin has a chance to come to a bigger district with total domination, but I don't think the size of the district really matters. The toughness is what matters and they have been in a h3ll of a district for quite some time.

Anyways, good luck and I may see you at Lufkin Bbq, since I am driving in two hours to see the game. I am sure if I have time, I will be making a stop for at least some of their deep fried rolls.

Lufkin wins this game for several reasons:

1. Klein Collins must travel to Abe Martin Stadium
2. Lufkin has plenty of big game experience and know how to get it done at home.
3. Lufkin's defense is as fast as the Collins offense and will be the best defense they have played to date.
3.Grass field ( Lufkin had 5+ inches of rain this week), enough said.
4.Klein Collins defense can not stop the Lufkin offense, no defense has to date.
5. Lufkin has a better disiplined team. Collins is known for trash talking and trying to show up opponents, I will tell you that stuff has the reverse effect on Lufkin.
6. Lufkin home crowd makes Abe a tough place to play.

and last but not least.......

7. JORVORSKIE LANE

Final score - Lufkin - 38
Klein Collins - 21

GO PACK!!!

Beat Lufkin? Here's how you do it...

1. Contain Mr. JORVORSKIE LANE.

Do NOT BLITZ like the woodlands. This is where he killed us. The woodlands is great against the run. We kept Klein Collins in check & won the game. Stay tight on the WR's.

2. Stick to Lufkin's defensive end (I believe # 45 or 65). A great Player.

3. Draw the Lufkin Linebackers in on pass, opposite direction on run.

Klein Collins will probably not have a problem here. The option will drive Lufkin nuts. For Lufkin to stop KC's offense, they will need to be very disipline.

My thoughts. Regardless, don't kill yourself & NO INJURIES. Our district should kick butt in the playoffs. Good luck to all of us!

Sorry LPanther but I live in an opposite direction of you. I could bring it back to Beaumont and the UPS it to you. Do you think those rolls would make it through the UPS guys before it got to you? lol
Anyways, I am extremely pumped about getting to watch the game. It will only be my second game to see since the championship year.

My pick is Lufkin over Klein 56-21.

Lufkin has dominated the district since they entered, and now it's time for the big boss to take his district crown.

Thanks for the insight.

I hope Goodson/Yancy, and Luke make it through the whole game. Goodsons injury in third qtr of Woodlands game was a major setback.

KCHS usually starts slow on offense until they make the adjustments but you are right. Yancy on the counter is tough to stop if linebackers want to follow Goodson. Of coarse, if you don't follow Goodson, he is yard.

It will be difficult for KC to slow down Lane but we do not blitz much. Lufkin will score a lot but so can Collins.

Like your final comment. Hope everyone comes out fit because we want this district to go far in playoff.

Good points.

This will be the first grass field we have played on. Most fields in Houston area are artificial.

This will be the fastest offense that LHS has seen but their speed is impressive. I think you will see that the trash talking comment is wrong. I saw some instances early in the year but they have been corrected and tamed since Goodson's hot dogging in the Woodlands game got him injured on a hit as he crossed the goalline. If he does't hot dog, the Woodlands player never catches him and he goes in standing up.

I hope they have A+ officials unlike the Woodlands/Lufkin game. They were all around bad.

If both LHS play their game, a KCHS upset will be tough.

I am typically a very unbiased viewer at a game. If the team I am pulling for gets away with a ref not seeing it, then I will say, "Wow, we got away with that one!". Or if the other team has a call that goes there way that other fans think is wrong, I will tell everyone around me that it was a good call and why.

That being said, the officials at Lufkin games are usually very efficient and quality. Of course everyone misses a call occasionally, but they usually do a good job at the games I have seen.

Let's hope the players and coaches decide this game and not officials. That would be a travisty if officials gave the game to someone, but I don't predict that happening.

i agree with u coach ... i don't think that the refs will have anything to do with this one ... it's a district championship game in which the BEST team that day will win ... Like Mr. Woodlands High said ... i just hope for NO injuries in the game. Both teams needs to go into the playoffs injury free. Good luck to both teams ...play hard and leave it ALL on the field!!! :cooldude: :peace:

Lufkin Refs not bad?

Did anybody see the Lufkin vs Woodlands Sub-Varsity game in Lufkin? The ref called a potential touchdown dead for Lufkin when the player crossed the 5 yard line; both hands raised like a field goal post & blew the whistle. Since the whistle blew, the play was dead.

Maybe Lufkin will win against Klein Collins. Why? Grass field & KC not use to a 90 yard football field. Which begs the question... Which 45 yard line will the coin toss be?

Anyways, I did not think the refs were that bad in the Lufkin vs Woodlands varsity game. The better team won that day. Calls went both ways. The 4th down / last drive placement of the ball was correct after watching the game films.

This was no easy win for Lufkin... Who can say otherwise? Shame on you. It came down to the last play.

Predition? Klein Collins takes the win --> 45 to Lukfin's 38

I have seen both teams. I think Lufkin will have it's hands full with Klein Collins running game. The will have to be very disipline to stop KC.

I was the guy to perdict the Woodlands / Lufkin game correctly -- that it would be on the last drive.

Boy was I wrong.... I guess that makes Klein Collins 3rd in district play ! ;-)

Somebody tell me what happen in the 4th quarter?

Regardless, hope all players are well. Time to unite & represent the district well...

I'm counting on you guys...

and of course, the Woodlands gave Lufkin it's best game... down to the last drive / play. ;-)

I have rarely seen a punt turn the momentum the way the Lufkin punt did in the fourth. KC up 21-14 and Lufkin punts the ball. It is downed on the 3 yard line. Two plays later the ball is fumbled. Lufkin ball at the four. TD.

Kickoff, KC has trouble with it. Stopped at the 15 and a holding penalty. Move the ball back to the 8. Run a play and another holding penalty. Ball now on the 4. Safety on the next play. Safety kickoff and Lufkin drives down and makes it 30 -21.

Lufkin kicks off and the ball rolls between the KC returners legs (5 hole if you watch hockey). They start from about the 4 and fumble on a pitch back and Lufkin recovers in the end zone.

Lufkin kickoff and KC doesn't do anything with it. Punt. Lufkin's second string comes in (and probably KC's as well. Back up QB runs an option and KC doesn't tackle him and he takes it 65 yards for a TD.

Lufkin looked awful for the first three quarters. Turnovers, unsportsmanlike penalties, personal fouls. KC kept Lane in complete check the entire game except one play in the first quarter. That punt just changed the momentum and KC couldn't recover. They never got beyond their own 12 yard line in the last quarter.

And the refs were WAY off of their game, but they sucked equally. One turnover against Lufkin and the back judge never moved. Offensive and defensive came out for the other team and the back judge was still standing in the same spot. KC gets ready to run the ball and the back judge is standing 8 yards deeper in the backfield than the referee. Many other stupid little mistakes like that, but I am not sure that they determined the outcome. Others may disagree and that is what message boards are for.

BTW, the score does not even come close to telling how closely the game was contested. It was a battle between two quality teams and the breaks went Lufkin's way in the last 12 minutes.

One last thing, I have never watched an opposing bands halftime show that I enjoyed more than the KC performance. A salute to college fight songs ROCKED!

KC imploded in the 4th quarter, but they need to get over it, because they have an opportunity to make some noise in the playoffs. I expect our district to be well represented. Good luck to all!! Bring on the playoffs!!! Congrats Pack!......GP Shore, Lufkin, Abilene, and Longview will be moving up in AP after Katy's loss, but the rankings don't mean much now as it will all be decided on the field in the upcoming weeks.
