now with two high schools they are beginning to have the "letdown" that all towns experience when they go to multiple schools. It'll be a long time before Mission Vat. has a Dist. Champ.

Sharyland used to be completely outside of the Mission city limits. Sharyland is an INDEPENDANT SCHOOL DISTRICT! They never were part of the Mission ISD.
About 1985 Mission extended their city limit East and West . It now goes all the way East to include PART of the Sharyland school district. THERE IS NO TOWN CALLED SHARYLAND. Back in 1959, I worked in Sharyland, so I know these things.
People who live in what is called Sharyland ( It is really a school district!) get their mail thru' the Mission Post Office.
Mission ISD now has two High Schools. Sharyland has nothing to do with Mission except PART of their school district is in the City of Mission's City Limits.
That ought to do it.

RAYMONDVILLE — The Raymondville Independent School District list for the position of head football coach has been announced.
The list consists of 25 applicants, with 11 names from the Valley.
Some of the notables are Raymondville’s current athletic director/head basketball coach Tom Wolfe, former Rio Hondo football coach David Robledo and former Los Fresnos head coach Jeff Le Fevre. Wolfe couldn’t speculate when a coach would be hired, but said the school district would like to fill the position as soon as possible.
"We have to sort through the applications," Wolfe said. "Then choose the top candidates and take them to the superintendent."
At the same time, Wolfe added the district doesn’t want to rush its decision and wants to make sure they hire the right person.
"We don’t want to make a hasty decision," Wolfe said.
Domingo Capelo (Donna Middle School coach), Ruben Cortez (Brownsville Porter Defensive Coordinator), Rene De La Garza (Hidalgo football coach), George Gomez (Harlingen Offensive line coach), Johnny Medrano (Weslaco assistant coach), Kenneth Reininger (San Benito assistant coach), Ray Saldana (San Benito coach), and Joe Salinas (Edcouch-Elsa offensive-line coach) round out the Valley names applying for the head coaching position. Twelve of the names are in-state candidates with two of the applicants from out of state.
"We’re looking for someone who’s enthusiastic," Wolfe said. "Someone who has a sense of how the offense and defense is portrayed and is strong in discipline. Successful coaching experience as either a head coach or as a coordinator would be a plus."
Currently, the football team is still going through the usual off-season program under Wolfe’s lead. But most of the players are in the thick of the baseball and track season.
The position became open when former head coach Carlos Longoria left the program to take a head coaching position at Mission Veterans Memorial last month. Longoria led the Bearkats to a 6-3 record and the brink of the playoffs last season.

I hope to see some new changes in the near future...with the new school board officials. I see we are also getting a new middle school, a soccer team, mariachi, and wood shop class. A new stadium is coming I can see the light at the end of the tunnel.
